Photography

I believe this picture is point of interest. The picture is in focused on the the berries in the middle so the ones in the background are blurred out. Believe it or not that is how the picture came out as soon as i took it no editing involved for that effect.

Chess Piece

This is an assignment where i had to draw a chess piece and do my own background with movement. My chess piece was a pawn believe me when i say looks can be deserving. To draw this one little object took me about 1 week of roughs to finally start my good copy and i think even my final copy could have been better. My background was a giant swirl and i had to use the smudgy tool to create shadowing in my piece. I only smudged the top my picture to create movement towards the top of my piece. By making a swirl i created movement because your eyes tend to fallow the lines in the swirl which leads you all over the page.

Photo District News Article

I chose an article named The Girl Project. This is a project for young girls between the ages of 13-17. This project is for 5,000 girls of different backgrounds and to see what their daily lives consist of. This is a very difficult project to run Kate Engelbrecht the organizer of this has paid out of her own money to buy 400 camera’s only 100 have been returned. These cameras are new Kodak Max HQ 35mm single use. This project is available to girls in America.
The teen image is portrayed through what’s on television or in magazines that’s what people think of teens as well there not! Teens aren’t what we see on television for example the hills or gossip girl those are edited to show the drama parts teens don’t go through that every day yes once in a while but a regular teen doesn’t have those problems every day.
So Far 100 cameras have been returned and the photographs they received are of teens and their friends. The girl liked to shoot text that was maybe on a poster or billboard. The text included words that the teens felt meaningful/ inspirational to them. It was nothing compared to shows or articles on a typical teen. So as the process continues we will see how it turns out who knows maybe this will change the way people think of teen girls.

Andre Derain "Big ben"

The piece i will be informing you f is a famous piece called "Big Ben". Derain Painted in a style called fauvism for this piece of work. the colours are mixed together, they are bright and bold. The brush strokes are made to distort reality. Quite like the Morse code this art is done in dots and dashes. The colours are vibrant but still shaded. Imitationalism is very life like, "Big Ben" may remind some of a a romantic river in paris for france. It may also appear as stained glass the way dots and dashes are placed.
Big Ben portray's a exciting mood beacuse all the colours are so bright and energetic. Derain piece expresses formalism in many ways such as : colour organisation, texture and space. Colour organisation is done fantastic. The sun is the brightest point then goes darker. The green which lightens up all the bright colours make up for the buildings being so dark. Looking at this is confusing in texture the piece can be smooth or a little rough depending on what it's painted on, either paper or mosaic. There are no dull spaces which is great.
Andre Derain was born in 1880. After he was in the miliary service. Derain started exhibiting his pieces of art through 2 places. The salon de independants, Salon d' Automne. Derain and others putting there pieces was creating the movement of Fauvism. Andre Derain became ill and started losing his eyesight. In 1954 he was hit by a truck. He died from the shock at age 74.
